Wood Surfaces for Indoor Futsal Courts

Indoor futsal courts offer a space for football enthusiasts to freely express themselves. This sport is particularly popular in South America. The construction of indoor courts relies heavily on the performance of the flooring materials. Football and basketball share similarities in areas such as cushioning, player movement, and rebound. Choosing PVC flooring surfaces is a wise decision, as wood grain is often used as the main pattern for indoor futsal.

1. PVC Floor with Wood Surfaces

PVC futsal flooring mats offer a variety of colors and textures of wood grain surfaces, breaking the constraints of the inherent surface textures of wood flooring and turf. Customized futsal is increasingly popular globally, while also saving more on budget compared to wood flooring and turf.

Blue Maple

For futsal courts, we highly recommend PVC flooring mats with a blue maple pattern. Blue is almost always the first choice for synthetic flooring in football fields, and paired with white standard field lines, the boundaries are clear and the color scheme is visually pleasing. Through an integrated embossing and calendering process, it’s possible to mimic the grain of real maple wood with high clarity. The blue accents give maple a more sophisticated aesthetic. Compared to traditional solid wood, it not only boasts beautiful grain lines but also allows for free combination with logos and other textures.

Yellow Maple

Yellow maple is the closest to traditional solid wood sports flooring. We offer light and dark maple options. Even though the entire floor is yellow maple, the visual effect is completely different. It’s a popular choice for basketball court surfaces and can also be used in soccer, though less frequently. This is because soccer balls are typically black and white or other colors, which may be difficult to discern on a light maple surface, potentially leading to misjudgments by players.

Grey and Black Maple

These two colors are more commonly used in basketball court flooring, allowing for DIY court color schemes. Combinations of these two colors create a more sophisticated design.

2. Other Surfaces

Gem patterns are truly the most classic texture in PVC sports materials; it’s hard not to think of them. 6.0 or 8.0mm thickness is a common solution we offer to our clients for Futsal flooring. If possible, for example, to also accommodate volleyball, both sports can be played on the same court, requiring only two different court lines. Since there’s only some overlap in the middle area, and both sports have relatively few lines, they can be easily distinguished. We’ve provided such a design for our Middle Eastern clients, which could be an excellent reference for you; you can apply for a design from us.

3. More Flexible Options

For a bolder approach, a combination of wood and gem patterns is also a good idea. Use gem around the perimeter (outside the court lines) and maple in the playing area inside the lines. In some professional competitions, this combination, along with each team’s unique logo, can create a customized court design for each team.

4. Selection Advice

Wood surface patterns are undoubtedly the best texture for basketball and Futsal. However, focusing solely on the pattern isn’t enough; the strength and quality of the synthetic PVC flooring itself should be given more consideration.

For example, our maple pattern printed layer is more than just a design; the outermost wear-resistant layer features a very finely textured, uneven surface. Yes, its primary function is to increase surface friction, helping players achieve precise and effective movements.
